Letter from the Conductor, March 2017

Greetings!kaerenae

The Chorus continues to work hard and I hope you are as proud of them as I am! Last semester was a whirlwind and we recorded Stille Nacht (listen and watch here) in the Rotunda for 3 hours as part of our Historic Site Project. We hope to have a video of Northern Lights up soon! You can also watch our professional recording of And So It Goes and Over the Rainbow along with other videos on our YouTube channel.

It’s awesome that our National Anthem is gaining recognition. We were asked to sing in Richmond which would have been broadcast on CBS news, but unfortunately it was the same day as Foxfield and we had to decline. We hope to have a professional video of that in the near future!

The young women performed beautifully during our Candlelight Concerts. The Chapel was filled with wonderful audiences and exquisite music. The theme was “Northern Lights”, and the Chorus sang the composition by Ola Gjeilo with beauty and grace. We really appreciate our alums and friends who drove and flew in from far and wide to attend. Our next Candlelight Concerts will feature Britten’s A Ceremony of Carols with harp. It’s always the first weekend in December. We hope to see you then (and before!!!)

We treasure you and hope to have a “Connections Concert” in the northern Virginia area within the next year. It’s a great opportunity to sing our traditional repertoire and reunite with alums, and stay in touch between our Anniversary Reunion weekends.

Please visit our website and Facebook page for frequent updates. And view our members page to see who is currently leading this fantastic organization!

Without you and your incredible support we would not be able to continue providing an excellent musical experience and a treasured community for our members. Thank you for your generosity!

Best,

KaeRenae
