Earth Day Concert: Our Earth is a Garden

earthday2017Come join the Virginia Women’s Chorus at the University of Virginia as they perform folk, country, and contemporary music to celebrate the beauty of our earth.  Special guests UVA Bluegrass will join the Chorus for a set of Wailin’ Jennys songs, including Arlington and Away But Never Gone. Mark your calendars for April 22 at 3:30 in Old Cabell Hall at UVA for an afternoon to remember!

Music by a Native American musician will open the concert and selections accompanied by oboe, flute, piano, and percussion will follow.  The second half will feature folk and country songs, including Jean Ritchie’s Now is the Cool of the Day.
The Chorus is partnering with several environmental stewardship groups that will have their information in the lobby of Old Cabell Hall.

The Virginia Women’s Chorus, conducted by Katherine “KaeRenae” Mitchell, is committed to excellence in the performance of classical, contemporary and diverse music from the challenging choral literature for women’s voices.  The Chorus seeks to inspire in the choral art form through the celebration of women’s repertoire.  Comprised of devoted and talented young women, this ensemble is student-run and continues to uphold its tradition of exceptional music. Accolades come from many concertgoers and include comments such as: “The concert was stunningly beautiful, sensitively programmed and a musical treat of the highest order.  It really was quite amazing.”
