A note from Senior Rush Chair, Andrew Guess ’20
This year, the Delta Chapter of Alpha Tau Omega kicked off 2020 with a successful Rush process. We extended 64 first round invites, offered 11 bids, and had 6 acceptances. These numbers are lower than previous years due in part to a 33% decrease in Rush participation. However, our conversion rate remains in line with previous years, allowing us to secure a strong and high quality pledge class.
Potential new members and brothers alike enjoyed the process immensely, as our events this year underscored the strong bonds of brotherhood that we Deltas share with one another. Highlights included a viewing of the beat down the Cavaliers put on Georgia Tech and a wonderful date function at Lydia’s Mountain Lodge. Potential new members had the opportunity to listen to older brothers give speeches about what Alpha Tau Omega means to them at the Dinsmore Dinner. This was also the first year of a new rush event: Skeet Shooting. This event allowed brothers and potential new members to bond and experience something new. It was massively successful, and we plan to continue this event in the future as a new staple of our rush process.
During my last two years as both Junior Rush Chair and now Senior Rush Chair, I have had the opportunity to help this Chapter find young men who share similar ideals and aspirations, and who will continue to grow and improve the Delta Chapter for years to come. Bid Day provided an experience of which will last a lifetime as our new pledges began their journey to becoming Brothers of the Delta Chapter. We are extremely proud and excited to have them with us in ATΩ.
L&R,
Andrew Guess
