We had so many incredible moments at Juntos—from doubling registration since 2023, hearing from University President Jim Ryan and UVA Alumni Association President Lily West, to participating in thoughtful sessions from the Latinx Oral Histories Project , the Spanish Department, and an inspiring group of alumnae during our networking panel—we had quite the weekend! Many thanks to Isabel Argoti (Arch ’16), Mel Borja (Col ’19, Law ’26), Kayla Dunn (Col ’20), Carmen Ortiz-McGhee (Col ’95), Carolina Ramôa (Col ’06, Grad ’11), Rachel Schmidtke (Col ’12), and countless others for lending your time and expertise this weekend!
At our Awards Brunch we celebrated three scholarship winners and honored our previous Bolívar Network President, Claudia Quintero (Col ’11), with the Pablo J. Davis Award for all her hard work and dedication to our community. All of our award winners are spotlighted below and on our “Scholarships and Awards” webpage. We also heard an inspiring speech from one of our distinguished alumni and donors, Ruben Basantes (Col ’92). You can read more about his incredible story in this article.
Many thanks to the Alumni Association and University partners for their thoughtful collaboration on Juntos 2025. We look forward to seeing alumni back on Grounds at our next Awards Brunch in April 2026 and the next Juntos in April 2027.
