The Bicentennial edition (Winter 2018) of Virginia Magazine featured a retrospective look at some of the most significant events and people that have shaped the last 200 years at UVA. Sadly, it failed to mention the significant contributions of the Hispanic/Latinx community to the University. The Bolívar Network sprang into action and BN Leadership wrote a letter to the Editor expressing our profound disappointment at this glaring omission. The letter was published in the Spring 2019 edition (page 12) and highlights only some of the various people and contributions from the Hispanic/Latinx community to the University; while underscoring the significant role that our community will undoubtedly play in the University’s next 200 years giving changing demographics in Virginia and the U.S.
