Several alumni have inquired whether donations are needed. We appreciate those alumni who are currently donating. We think we have a viable operational plan that will cover all expenses for the coming school year, and will soon have a plan in place for years 2-4 of the suspension. We anticipate significant expenses in the year when recolonization takes place. During that year, the house will have to be remain empty to accommodate January Rush, and social activities during the second semester.
On our support page there are several fund designations:
- The Theta Chi Annual Fund is designed up to establish a reserve for major maintenance and repairs. Any monies donated here are deposited in the University of Virginia Investment Management Corporation Long-Term Investment Fund, and withdrawn if needed.
- The Quent Alcorn Scholarship was fully funded in 2023. Scholarships are available to outstanding Greek students. You can see more details on our website.
- The Theta Chi Helping Hands Bicentennial Scholarship Fund currently has a balance of $682,000. Sponsors of this scholarship intend to complete funding their commitments during the suspension period. The first disbursement from this scholarship will be made in the 2025-26 school year to an outstanding Greek student, as there will be no undergraduate Theta Chis available to receive the award. Active promotion of the scholarship will re-commence when recolonization starts.
- The Martin Powell Fund was established in 2022. Undergraduate brothers have undertaken activities such as athletic events and concerts with Martin. We have discontinued this fund since it was run by the undergraduates, but will find a way to continue these activities and our relationship with Martin.
