House & Grounds
by Will Moomaw
The House & Grounds Committee, like everyone else, had their plans for the spring change dramatically due to the spread of COVID-19. With nearly all students gone, and no brothers residing at 600 Preston Place, many of our plans were put on hold. We will continue to have regular check-ins on the house in case anything is needed before students can return to Charlottesville. Continue to read the report.
Treasurer’s Report & Annual Fund Update
by Patrick Higgins
As the University closed and students were encouraged to head home, the alumni board voted to provide $8,375 in rent relief to the undergraduate brothers. The board will continue to work closely with the current chapter members this coming fall to plan as the University (hopefully) reopens on Grounds. View full update.
Homecomings 2020
As of now, this year’s Homecomings is set to go on as scheduled on the weekend of October 3, 2020. We will continue to monitor the situation and keep you updated on the latest guidance from the UVA administration. Updates from President Jim Ryan can be viewed here as well.
If you are comfortable traveling, block the weekend today and plan to join us at our annual pre-game tailgate at Theta Chi on Saturday, October 3, 2020 ahead of the football game as the ’Hoos take on UNC.
We’ll have more information and links to ticket purchases and hotel blocks in our summer Xi-Lights. In addition, we’ll hold our Alumni Association annual meeting on Sunday, October 4, 2020 at Theta Chi (time TBA). All alumni are invited to attend.
Reunions 2020
Unfortunately, the University has been forced to postpone Reunions 2020 to next year. The class years ending in -0 and -5 will celebrate their reunions in June 2021, combining those events with the Reunions planned for the class years ending in -1 and -6. For more information, check out the UVA’s official statement on Reunions.

Otto Warmbier Plaque
This past winter, the garage was dedicated with a plaque to honor the late Otto Warmbier, a Xi chapter brother who tragically passed away in 2017 while a student at UVA.
The plaque reads “an adventurous spirit, an exemplary friend, a dedicated Brother and son. Otto was known for his magnetic energy, eccentric style, and boisterous personality. A man who knew the true meaning of hard work, he strived to be the best student, worker, and friend he could be. He had a truly spectacular mind that naturally impressed in every endeavor, in and out of the classroom. We will remember his time with a smile on our face.”
Forever and ever, my brother, hail and farewell.
