This Spring, the Xi Chapter of Theta Chi will hold its second annual “Music for Mental Health” philanthropy event on April 25th. This year’s event will benefit, “On Our Own” of Charlottesville, a local organization whose mission is “To provide mutual support, self-help, advocacy, education, information and referral services for individuals who acknowledge having significant problems in their lives due to mental illness and who are seeking to take responsibility for their own growth and recovery while supporting each other.” By focusing on the issue of mental health and its relevancy to our chapter, we hope to make the greatest difference by helping provide resources for those in need.

Due to the personal impact mental health has had on our brothers in recent years, we as a chapter support On Our Own and their mission to help provide mental health related services and care to residents in the Charlottesville area. To support this cause, our brothers participate by: raising donations for On Our Own by contacting local businesses, selling t-shirts to UVA students and family members, and helping spread awareness for On Our Own’s mission. This year, Music for Mental Health will be held at Boylan Heights, and will feature several different musical acts that represent UVA’s incredibly talented and diverse community. We are hoping to hold another very successful event this Spring and we would appreciate your help.
We are always looking for further opportunities to enhance community involvement and alumni/parent participation in all of our philanthropic endeavors. Please feel free to contact either of our Philanthropy Chairs if you would like to get involved in this year’s philanthropy, we would love to hear from you!
