On December 1, 2023, the Bolívar Network celebrated the 2023 Annual Awards Brunch in Charlottesville. For the first half of the event, current and prospective UVA students, along with alumni, faculty, staff, and even family members, had the opportunity to (re)connect and mingle with music playing and sweet treats provided by Baker No Bakery alongside GRIT Coffee. The Bolívar Network then celebrated each of the 2023-2024 Undergraduate Book Scholarship recipients, Goretty Bustamante Pinares and Sebastian Moeller Rivera; Graduate Book Scholarship recipient Sabrina Mato; and the First Year Scholarship winner Araceli Costancio Soto.
On behalf of the Bolívar Network board, we are so grateful to each of you for making the time to travel and celebrate the scholarship recipients and our community. We also wanted to thank all of the partners that made this event possible including the Bolívar Network board members, especially Claudia Bonilla, Claudia Castañeda, and Sean White who organized the event; all donors including the co-founders of the First Year Scholarship Fund, Hernando Herrera and Jenny Murphy; and UVA Alumni Association staff who supported the event.
