Homecomings Weekend
This October, we had 70 active brothers, alumni, and spouses attend our Homecomings Tailgate prior to the UVA vs. Louisville football game. Many thanks to Earl Henderson and Jackie Morris for providing the food for the event.
Alumni Board Elections
During our annual meeting, we welcomed Tyler Moses ʼ12, Spence Phillips ʼ85, and Jeff Baker ʼ92 to the Alumni Board. We’d also like to welcome Will Moomaw, Jeff Baker, and Spence Phillips into their new officer roles.
Quent Alcorn Scholarship
The Quent Alcorn Scholarship, which began in 2016, raised a total of $220,000. Thank you to both the Young Alumni Supporters and the Board for your contributions.
Reunions Weekend June 2023

Treasurer’s Report and Auditing
The Alumni Corporation continues to serve as the landlord and steward for the house and our financial standing is solid. The financial activities and accounts of the Alumni Corporation will continue being reviewed in the monthly audit process that has been established.
House and Grounds Report
As we continue looking to make improvements to the House and its Grounds, we have determined that the cedar that was overshadowed by the dear-departed “Anchor Tree” is dying and needs to be removed.
Martin Powell Fund
Activities for Martin are ongoing – including going to sporting events, lunches, and dinners around Charlottesville. Thank you all for your continued support.
Preston Place and the surrounding neighborhood continue to see expansion and new construction. This creates not only new and denser housing, but higher expectations in outside appearance and exterior maintenance. While the board has addressed regular maintenance of major systems and appliances inside the house, it has recently undertaken several exterior maintenance projects. If you would like to help in this effort, as outlined in the previous issue of Xi-Lights, you can make your donation through our Annual Giving program.
