Improvements to the House

New rails for safety
New rails for safety
As a result of several ladies falling or swooning last spring, we have added railings at a number of strategic points around the house. Hopefully, this measure will help reduce some risk. We would like to thank Tom Bell for some of his suggestions in this matter. In the Fall, we added a set of heat pumps to improve the air conditioning capacity of the second and third floors. We have had some complaints from the actives and from summer Drama School renters about the lack of cooling on hot and humid days (Cost: $6,500). Additionally, we have hired a service to clean out the ducting of the house during Christmas break as the complaints have increased about the dust in the house when the system is on (Cost is estimated at $3,100). We met with the University Landscape Architect Helen Wilson on November 8th to try to reach an accord on making a proper parking lot in the area bordering the Architectural School. Right now it’s a mix of gravel and soil in dry weather and red muck and gravel in the wet. Our actives have used a ramp to drive down it in their SUVs towards the front side of the House.
