2017 HRR Update Four

HRR Update Four, from 47.3478° N, 8.6793° E

This update hails from Calvin Heimberg, a rising fourth year Architecture major, who sits in bow of the eight.

Another day of racing at lake Greifensee!

The coxless four had a rough start in the headwind, and finished behind the Swiss crews.  They are looking forward to getting back into the coxed 4+ and finding their speed again.

The eight picked up another W with an open water lead over a similar field of crews from both Switzerland and Germany.  While the conditions provided a good challenge, they focused on practicing racing tactics that they will need during Henley.

The team on Juerg Biller’s roof top deck overlooking Zürich; yes, we are trading Frank in for his dad have he’s treated us so splendidly

After both boats were finished and put up on the trailer, we dropped the eight, trailer and van off at Erlenbach (Frank’s old rowing club) and headed to Juerg Biller’s apartment for dinner.  The patio we entered had a stunning view overlooking lake Zurich and the food was equally amazing; we enjoyed some classic Swiss dishes and a bit of wine and beer made by two of Frank’s longtime friends.

We left the youth hostel this morning and caught an early flight out of Zurich to mark our final approach to Henley.  The team is excited to settle in and ready themselves for the time trial this Friday!
